THE EYE WALKER WITCH AND THE RABBIT
by Jackie Ann
The Eye Walker Witch and the Rabbit
Met in the deep green woods.
Rabbit was feeling quite thirsty,
So Eye Walker conjured the goods.
She blew on a shiny leaf,
And like magic, it filled up with dew.
Rabbit nervously lapped up the water,
As rabbits nervously do.
Next time Walker saw Rabbit,
Rabbit hid from her gaze.
“I’m afraid of your creepy magic,” she said,
“I’ve been avoiding you for days!”
“But I helped you, we were friends!” said The Witch,
Her voice full of pain.
“You weren’t so scared of me then,
When you had something to gain.
Go away from me, cowardly creature.
The medicine between us has broken.
I would never have shared it with you
If I knew you were not open.
Now Rabbit, we once were bonded,
So I will not hurt or destroy you.
But since you call your fears to you,
Your fears will all come toward you."
Today, Rabbit still calls his predators
And they come and devour him whole;
Snakes + wolves + foxes + hawks
Can smell the fear in his soul.
Rabbit graciously teaches these lesson to us:
To never be guided by fear.
To believe in magic, say thank you to friends
And never call scary things near.
